Thanks to a tape of Sweet Nightmares from 1988, digitized and posted by http://texasmetalpowerhouse.blogspot.com/ we have three really cool promo spots from that year.
Audio Samples
1. This first clip from 1988 addresses the persistent free speech issues Pacifica has faced for most of its existence. It includes an extensive monologue from Jello Biafra in support of KPFK and finishes with a fun, but hollow, send up of sanitized corporate rock radio promotion.
2. The second sounds like a KPFT promo recorded by Beat poet Ken Nordine. KPFT carried a Ken Nordine syndicated program in the 1980s.
3. The final clip is, for lack of a better term, spaced out and fun to hear.
