On July 1, 2022 Sandy Weinmann began a term as volunteer interim general manager. Sandy is the longtime host of Deadbeat and served, until his appointment, as a member of the Local Station Board.

An announcement from Pacifica's Executive Director, Stephanie Wells, about changes at KPFT  Greetings,  Dr. Robert Franklin is leaving his position as General Manager of KPFT. It was determined by the National Board that the position of GM at KPFT will be a volunteer position moving forward.  I want to personally thank Dr. Franklin for his dedicated service and professionalism while at KPFT. We thank him for developing connections with local businesses and other non-profit organizations throughout Houston and for keeping Pacifica’s mission of supporting the communities we serve as the catalyst for his work. We wish Dr. Franklin the best in his future endeavors!  Beginning July 1st, Sandy Weinmann, will be serving as KPFT’s volunteer Interim General Manager. Sandy has provided volunteer board service for KPFT for 9 years and as a volunteer programmer for 25 years, which has included spearheading dozens of fundraising events for the station. He will step down as the current Chair of the LSB in order to serve as the station’s volunteer iGM. Sandy has been instrumental in the process of securing a new building for KPFT and will continue working with staff and volunteers on the successful completion of this project.
